Lot 2926
Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.49 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Treveri. Irregular mint, after 332/3. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate head of Constantine II to right. Rev. Victory standing front, head to left, placing her right foot on prow, holding scepter in her right hand and resting her left on shield; in exergue, TR•P. Cf. RIC 543 (for reverse prototype). A very unusual piece. Very minor traces of corrosion and a small die break on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

This is a very rare mule, with an obverse for Constantine II and a reverse for Constantinopolis. The style is clearly unofficial, indicating a contemporary imitation.
